(PSC-2014) Interpretar uma palavra no contexto dado

Mensagem não lida por Polímero17 » Qui 14 Nov, 2019 15:59

(LÍNGUA ESTRANGEIRA INGLÊS-TEXTO I)Tokyo is celebrating as the Japanese capital won the bid to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Residents have gathered outside the Metropolitan Government building to share their delight. The International Olympic Committee voted for the city which saw off bids from Istanbul and Madrid to succeed London and Rio in hosting the sporting world's most prized events.
"I very much appreciate the strong support the IOC has given to Japan. I sincerely promise that Japan will keep its word and make sure the 2020 Olympic Games will be a success".
Tokyo won by a landslide despite concerns about contaminated water leaking from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant where radiation levels have reached a new high.

Observando todo o contexto apresentado, será que a palavra grifada seria traduzida ao pé da letra para deslizamento de terra ou teria outro significado? Qual seria ele?

A landslide victory is an electoral victory in a political system, when one candidate or party receives an overwhelming majority of the votes or seats in the elected body, thus all but utterly eliminating the opponents. The winning party has reached more voters than usual, and a landslide victory is often seen in hindsight as a turning point in people's views on political matters.

Part of the reason for a landslide victory is sometimes a bandwagon effect, as a significant number of people may decide to vote for the party which is in the lead in the pre-election opinion polls, regardless of its politics.

The term is borrowed from geology, where a landslide takes almost everything with it on its way.
