Temos aqui um esboço do caso feito no Illustrator [tex3]\rightarrow [/tex3]
Veja que o segmento [tex3]\mathsf{\overline{AD} \ \perp \ \overline{AB}, \ \overline{AC}}[/tex3] , ambos, assim como [tex3]\mathsf{\overline{BC}} [/tex3] contidos no plano da circunferência (ou seja, [tex3]\mathsf{\overline{AD}}[/tex3] é uma "normal" a esse plano).
Além disso, [tex3]\mathsf{\overline{AC} \ \perp \ \overline{BC}}[/tex3] , já que trata-se de um ângulo inscrito que "enxerga" a meia-volta da circunferência (ou podemos dizer que é por causa da hipotenusa no diâmetro.)
Vamos inicialmente usar uns Pitágoras para relacionarmos esses lados...
[tex3]\mathsf{\overline{BD}^2 \ = \ \overline{AD}^2 \ + \ \overline{AB}^2 \ (I)}[/tex3]
[tex3]\mathsf{\overline{CD}^2 \ = \ \overline{AD}^2 \ + \ \overline{AC}^2 \ (II)}[/tex3]
[tex3]\mathsf{\overline{AB}^2 \ = \ \overline{BC}^2 \ + \ \overline{AC}^2 \ (III)}[/tex3]
Só de fazermos escalonamento, temos que:
[tex3]\mathsf{\overline{BD}^2 \ = \ \cancelto{\overline{CD}^2 \ \cancel{- \overline{AC}^2}}{\overline{AD}^2} \ + \ \cancelto{\overline{BC}^2 \ \cancel{+ \ \overline{AC}^2}}{\overline{AB}^2}} \ \rightarrow[/tex3]
[tex3]\mathsf{\overline{BD}^2 \ = \ \overline{BC}^2 \ + \ \overline{CD}^2 \ \rightarrow \ \triangle BCD}[/tex3] é retângulo em [tex3]\mathsf{C}[/tex3] !
Como o ponto [tex3]\mathsf{C}[/tex3] se encontra no meio do arco [tex3]\mathsf{\overset{\frown}{AB}}[/tex3] , então os ângulos inscritos [tex3]\mathsf{\angle{BAC}}[/tex3] e [tex3]\mathsf{\angle{CBA}}[/tex3] são iguais e são [tex3]\mathsf{45^\circ.}[/tex3]
Isso implica que: [tex3]\mathsf{\overline{AC} \ = \ \overline{BC} \ = \ \cancelto{8 \ |u|}{\overline{AB}} \ \cdot \ sen(45^\circ) \ = \ 4 \ \cdot \ \sqrt{2} \
